When applying for engineering school, you will have to meet certain requirements. These can vary with different schools, but common requirements include testing, grade point average classwork.

Various schools require a minimum score on standardized tests in order to enter the program. These tests include the ACT, SAT and the GRE if you are applying for a masters program in engineering. Students should check with their school before enrolling to see what the minimum score is to be eligible.

High school will need to have the required coursework in areas such as math, natural science, foreign language, social science and English. They will also list recommended classwork, which the student should consider taking. This will give you a greater chance of being accepted. In conjunction with your classwork, you will have to have a minimum grade point average in order to apply.

Students transferring from other universities will also have to meet coursework, grade point average and testing guidelines. If some coursework is not accepted or has not been taken, the student may be required to complete these before being accepted into the engineering program. Your school counselor or college adviser can explain these guidelines to you and help you get started on the process.
